Lawyers, Staff, Cases and Experience

The Anderson Immigration Center is located in Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida. Since 1985, our practice has been confined exclusively to immigration cases.

Senior counsel Everett P. Anderson is rated Av (highest) in Martindale-Hubbell, the peer-review national evaluation service for attorneys.    He is a longstanding member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), which screens its admitees for ethics and competence.

A former part-time United States Magistrate, Mr. Anderson speaks French and German.  He offers consultations in those languages.

Mr. Anderson holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army reserve.  He served in Europe and in the Vietnam War.  He was an Armor Officer and, later, a legal assistance officer in the Army's JAG Corps.  He gladly helps members of the U.S. armed services with naturalization and other immigration-related issues.

The Anderson law firm consists of two practicing attorneys, a lead paralegal (Nell N. Bowers), and other part-time support staff. We have more than two decades of experience in the immigration field and have represented aliens from over 50 foreign countries. We also represent numerous corporate and business clients. Our practice is local, regional, nationwide and worldwide.  We use state-of-the-art research and forms-preparation technology to assist our clients.

On the family side, we are experienced in marriage-based greencards, K-3 spousal visas, K-1 fiance visas, immigration of adopted children, naturalizations, various family-based waivers, the visa lottery, and VAWA claims (Violence Against Women Act).  We counsel clients on consular processing outside the U.S. versus adjustment-of-status strategies inside this country.  We secure both EAD's (Employment Authorization Documents) and travel documents for clients and their eligible family members.

On the employment side, we represent foreign physicians (including Conrad State 30's, J-1 foreign residency waivers and H-1B's in HPSA's) "Schedule A" registered nurses and physical therapists, as well as occupational therapists, engineers and information technology specialists at all levels. We handle immigrant visa applications involving Aliens of Extraordinary Ability, Outstanding Professors and Researchers, Multinational Executives, and aliens eligible for National Interest Waivers.

We are also experienced in Labor Certification Practice for foreign workers in a wide array of professions and trades.  Building on our former "RIR" cases, we have filed scores of PERM-based Labor Certs since March, 2005.  We file nonimmigrant work visa applications for clients in the H-1, O-1, L-1A and L-1B, B-1 and J-1 categories, including researchers, professors, teachers, exchange scholars, and others.  We file E-2 treaty investor applications at US consulates abroad and inside the US, as well as applications for immigrant investors. And we assist foreign students in both F-1 and J-1 status (including J- waivers for non-physicians) as they transition to the U.S. workplace.

In the post-9/11 climate, we represent clients charged with crimes, conferring as appropriate with their criminal defense counsel to clarify the immigration consequences of pleas and convictions.  We  identify any available strategies for relief from past convictions, including criminal waivers, and also handle immigration-related appeals, both administrative and judicial.

Finally, we appear in immigration courts to assist clients in deportation and removal proceedings, including cancellation of removal, withholding of removal, adjustments of status and political asylum -- seeking client green cards that are often only available in such proceedings.
